The Southern Highlands Goat Producers Association is a new organization designed to assist meat goat producers in northwest Georgia, eastern Alabama, and southern Tennessee. In order to simplify things, we are calling the organization "So High Goats." The goals of "So High Goats" include helping goat producers network with other farmers; learn about marketing and management of their herds through workshops and clinics; and training youth for showing and producing quality meat goats. We would like to see "So High Goats" host a goat show for producers in our area, as well as a variety of learning experiences for our members and the community.
Our mission is to serve the membership of the
Southern Highlands Goat Producers Association through educational
and collaborative programs that enhance the experience of the goat
producers; and focus on events that will promote goat production
through the development of our youth by building quality herds and
herdsman.
Membership benefits will include, but are not limited to an on-line membership directory; bi-monthly informational meetings; networking opportunities with other goat producers; the opportunity to participate and facilitate goat field day seminars and workshops; and other events. If you are interested in becoming a member, or just learning more about the Southern Highlands Goat Producers Association, please contact one of the officers. You may download the membership application and return it to Chip Sims with the appropriate dues.
